Thai Makruk
Makruk · หมากรุก · Asian chess · 8x8 square grid
Basic rules
- In Thai Makruk, Khun starts to each player's left of Met: White's king is on d1 and Black's on e8.
- Bia pawns start on the third rank, move one step, and promote to Met movement on the sixth rank.
- Met steps one square diagonally; Khon steps diagonally or one square forward. There is no castling or opening leap.
- Checkmate wins unless the mating player still claims board honor. New games use the published PyChess honor-count profile; earlier saves keep their legacy counter.
How it ends
- Checkmate
- Timeout
- Resignation
